Reclaim Your Holiday Sparkle

Nov 12, 2020 | Work-Life Wholeness, Working Parents

We are entering the winter months that bring many traditions, holidays, and cultural celebrations. What do you hope for this season? Personally, I want this time to SPARKLE! The reality, however, can be different than the dream. And that was true BEFORE the pandemic. How can I bring my BEST SELF to this holiday season?

For many of us, the holidays heighten our longing to share and enjoy time with family and friends. So, what gets in the way?

Well, tell me, what flavor do your inner critics take this time of year? My unkind judges tempt me to compare myself with others — including social media stars and made-for-TV movies and my sisters. Often they repeat old messages that “I’m not enough.” Paired with the busy, hectic preparations, sometimes the season rushes right by and I think, “I missed it!” The stress and lack of sleep can lead to tension, conflict, and over-indulgence rather than joy. The build up for adults and kids can leave the actual experience to fall flat.

For others, the season may be lonely or tinged with sadness. If you have experienced change or loss, especially around this time of year, those layers of memory and grief may play up even more now than in other seasons. For me, grief over the death of my mom (now 23 years ago!) can emerge during the simple act of adding one of her heirloom ornaments to the tree.

I do not want to miss the miracle! And I don’t want you to miss it either!

My goal this year is to prepare mindfully, remember my deepest held values, and plan from there with strength and an open heart. I am offering a seasonal coaching call (single 90-minute session) if you would like nurturing support to reclaim your own holiday sparkle. Please reach out and schedule your holiday sparkle session soon.
