Celebrate incremental and transformational growth

Celebrate incremental and transformational growth

by Barbara | Sep 21, 2020 | Birth and Parenting, Professional Development

As the season turns to Autumn, I see the trees change at different paces. There is the early adopter, with its race to yellow. And the reluctant maple who holds onto green while the red-orange-maroon blush advances slowly. Gradual changes shift things over time. Rapid...

Are you seeking to grow as a manager? Plan ahead f Are you seeking to grow as a manager? Plan ahead for your professional development and sign up for information on the Fall 2025 cohort of Managing People, a hybrid online course and group coaching experience offered through Whitworth LEARN. It’s a supportive community model where the group learns from and supports each other while gaining new perspectives through leadership coaching.

Managers are KEY to the employee experience. When managers build trust, inspire others, and provide clarity, their teams can find meaning in their work, stay engaged and perform better. By deepening self-awareness and increasing trust in themselves, managers can navigate workplace challenges with greater success.

I’ll be facilitating this group beginning August 26 through December 9. We’ll explore the important role and responsibility (and incredible honor and opportunity) we hold as managers. Let me know if you or your team are looking for professional development opportunities for your managers, and we can connect!

🎈 Today is my business birthday 🎂 and we’r 🎈 Today is my business birthday 🎂 and we’re celebrating FIVE YEARS!! ✨

Five years ago, at the start of the COVID pandemic, I began my journey into coaching as my primary profession. While I had planned to move into coaching “sometime in the future”, I did not have a plan for a graceful exit from a 20-year career at Microsoft. Instead, the universe supported my dream in unexpected ways, and my position was eliminated in January 2020 (e.g., I was laid off). Then the pandemic hit. I’ll never be able to untangle the threads of that time, what came first, chicken or egg, yet somehow I got the first YES (a contract in hand) and then steadily grew and diversified the plan into what Expanded Focus is today: 1:1 coaching for mid-career professionals, group coaching for managers, mentor coaching for those who want to gain or retain an ICF credential, and (as of last weekend!) retreats for women who want to re-ignite their spark. The future is bright!!

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Clients-Mentors-Coaches-Teachers-Cheerleaders-Referrals-Friends-Family. Solo-preneurs are NOT solo - we thrive in rich ecosystems of support and I deeply appreciate our connection.

Cheers to the next five years!
